Services for Thomas Whitt Boone, 69, manager of City Gas Company in Olney were held at the First Baptist Church.
Boone died of a heart ailment. He had been ill for four weeks.
Thomas Whitt Boone married Elizabeth Minchin on 15 October 1916 at Graham, Texas.
Boone lived in Young County most of his life. He made his home in the Spring Creek community in 1894 and lived at Megargel in 1926 before moving to Olney in 1936.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and belonged to the Masonic and IOOF Lodges.
Survived by his wife; one son - Giles Boone of Olney, who is area field executive for the American Red Cross; one daughter - Mrs. Nancy Lou Murphy of Dumas; his step-mother - Mrs. Belle Boone of Olney; three brothers - Lon and Floyd Boone of Olney; Paul Boone of Fort Worth; six sisters - Mrs. j.R. Womack and Mrs. A.E. Garrett of Olney, Mrs. Marion Shumake of Perrin, Mrs. R. Blair of Levelland; Mrs. Dan Pollard of Graham; Mrs. Frank Baker of Fort Worth; one grandchild - Susan Boone of Olney.

Funeral services for Giles M. Boone, 78, of Hereford were held in First United Methodist Church in Hereford with Dr. Ed Williamson, pastor officiating. He died Thursday, Nov. 9,1995.
Born in Spring Creek, he and Evelyn Koeneman were married in 1941 in Dallas She died in 1979. He was a teacher in Olney schools during the 1940's. He moved to Deaf Smith County in 1981 from Dallas. He had worked as director of disaster services for the American Red Cross.
He was a veteran, serving in the Army during World War II. Graduate of NTSTC. Entered AAC, 1942, trained at Sheppard Field, Tex., Cal. and Mo. Served in Aleutians. Awarded APO, 1 Star, ATO, GC and Vicory Medals. Discharged in 1945.
He was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Perrin of Hereford; a sister, Nancy Murphy of Dumas; and two granddaughters.
Graveside services were held in Restland Cemetery in Dallas with Jim Dorff of First United Methodist Church in McKinney officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Gilliland-Watson Funeral Home.
NANCY LOU BOONE
Nancy Murphy DUMAS - Nancy Murphy, 82, died Sunday, June 16, 2002. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Murphy was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Young County. She had lived in Dumas since 1943. She married Granville Murphy on Sept. 2, 1947, in Seymour. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She taught second and third grade at Sunset Elementary School for many years. She taught school a total of 33 years. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 14, 1997. Survivors include two nieces, Susan Perrin of Hereford and Linda Wright of Hooker, Okla; and a host of friends. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second St., Dumas, TX 79029. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be at 115 Santa Barbara St. Amarillo Globe-News, June 18, 2002
